We will make a panoramic visit to see the most important places of Hamburg: The alster lake, the Hafencity storage district, St Pauli, the city center and the harbor. We will stop in those places that we can, such as the town hall, the old tunnel that passes under the river Elbe or in front of the church of San Miguel, the most beautiful in the North. We will eat somewhere in the area and then we will make our visit to the center of the city, its history, the town hall or Rathaus, the church of San Pedro, the Alster Lake with its elegant swans. We can also go to the church of San Pedro, which is the oldest church in Hamburg.
Day 3.- Visit to Lübeck (December 28)
Lübeck is one of the oldest and most picturesque cities in Germany, not in vain, UNESCO has defined it as "prototype ideal city of the twelfth century". In the Middle Ages, it was the capital of the Hanseatic League or Hansa, the trade federation that brought together almost 200 cities across Europe - from London to Russia. So, you can get an idea of their wealth. The Holstentor, Holsten Gate, is the Eiffel Tower of Lübeck. Its icon, its symbol par excellence, a profile that any well-known German can recognize and associates with the former capital of the Hanseatic League. The third largest church in Germany, the tallest brick building in the world - with its 38.5 m- ... The Gothic church of St. Mary - Marienkirche - in Lübeck could be defined with many numbers and records - which would then have to be determined , How difficult it seems to define what is bigger! - but nothing prepares you for the moment in which, finding yourself under those bricks, you will feel like a smurf. Lübeck unfortunately suffered a bombing but "only" was one - because it was the red cross logistics center during the conflict - and "only" affected approximately 20% of the Altstadt, literally "old city", the historic center of the city. city. The remaining 80%, declared World Heritage by UNESCO, has remained virtually intact since the Middle Ages, the time of great splendor of the capital of the Hanseatic League. The city invited us to try and play as children, looking for the small doors that hid alleyways and patios, with their flowers, their decorations, toys, tools ... go up to the tower of St. Petrikirche, the church of San Pedro, and there's even an elevator! The church of Santa Maria, which can only be seen here as a whole, seems even more imposing. The Holstentor, on the other hand, seems smaller but just as arrogant. And the roofs of the historic center, with their peaks, seem to play on the potato rush in those rounded streets ...
Day 4.- Speicherstadt (December 29)
Today we will follow the traces of tea, coffee and aromatic species behind the thick red brick walls of the storage city called Speicherstadt, to discover the second largest carpet warehouse in the world, after Tehran. We will cross several bridges with an exceptional view of the canals of the Speicherstadt. We will talk about the legend of the famous pirate KLaus Störtebeker who was beheaded, all in this great complex of warehouses and special constructions. As a counterpoint we will present the Hafencity that exists as a result of the Speicherstadt and its history, said Hafencity is a neighborhood egg that has become the most attractive urban project in Europe. It is considered that the center of the city will grow until 2025 by 40%. And of course we can’t leave aside the monumental building of the Elbphilharmonie considered as the new symbol of Hamburg.
And after eating we will know the atmosphere of the neighborhood of St. Pauli through our night tour, this neighborhood combines spicy adventures, history and a very peculiar taste for life. We will no longer find the sailors who once drank there all night, but the sinful route continues to invite sin and is more fascinating than ever. Under the spell of neon lights, you will meet and love the darkest corners, visit a cult bar where we can enjoy a cold beer or any other shot of the house.
Day 5.- Hamburg (December 30)
Today we will enjoy the port: we will take a walk along the river Elbe and visit the fishing market (Fischmarkt), then we will enjoy a boat trip. They will explain the importance of the port of Hamburg, the third largest in Europe and one of the 15 most important in the world, we will pass through the storage city of 1888 (old port) and then we will go to the modern port. With luck we can see the giants of the sea and admire the loading and unloading at the dock, its locks, docks, a whole experience.
Day 6.- New Year’s Eve in Hamburg (December 31)
